I always had a lot of respect for Barbara Bush and her family; and both her husband and her son's presidencies. Her son, President George W. Bush came to Tennessee when we had that awful tornado that tore up Gallatin and surrounding areas in Sumner County back in 2006.
Barbara Bush herself always cared about the disadvantaged and children. Her legacy will live on. I just read this: The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy began during her White House years, with a goal to improve the lives of disadvantaged Americans by boosting literacy among parents and their children. The foundation partners with local programs and had awarded more than $40 million as of 2014 to create or expand more than 1,500 literacy programs nationwide. Barbara Bush was indeed a classy lady, and wise even to her remaining days. May she rest in peace.
