How should the profile of Alice Sayre be fixed?

The profile of Alice Sayre is "Protected", and the research notes indicate she was the wife of Robert Weste, not the wife of John Wheeler.  So would it be best to change the death information and spouse (to Robert Weste) and create a new profile for Alice Unknown as wife of John Wheeler?

As an interested Sayre descendant, I want to see this cleaned up. Following David Cooper's suggestion on the profile. Detach from Sayre parents and change LNAB to Unknown. Are there any objections? Changes will be made in one week barring objections.

I'll leave it to more expert Wikitreers than I to answer your query from a technical viewpoint, although I would favour disconnecting John Wheeler as her husband to be replaced by Alice unknown as his wife, thus leaving Alice Sayre free for her correct husband to be added But it's not just Alice Sayre that needs attention in that family - Rebecca Sayre also needs looking at if indeed a Rebecca Sayre existed. The evidence points to Rebecca unknown being more appropriate. And the unsourced Wheeler line going back into the Dark Ages is another matter altogether!

Are you familiar with the Sayre source material?

The profile's Biography probably does not list her as mother because the older book, by Banta does not have that information. Usually on the internet, people use the Banta material. Jacobus and Coddington covered that in several TAG articles. I'd have to go through it all to see what the points were, from them. (Obviously anyone with an American Ancestors sub can do this.) In my own personal database I have them connected with a caveat. It's been a long time since I looked at it since it's not my favorite area of research.

(I am a descendant of that John Wheeler and supposedly Alice, then the son John Wheeler who married Elizabeth.)

Yes, I am familiar with the source material - I found the 1572 will of William Sayre jr which Banta hadn't been able to trace. I put a photo of it on William's profile.I transcribed it as best I could but even though it's far from complete the names were legible.. For what it"s worth I can't find any proveable link between the Wheelers of Cranfield and the Sayres of Hinwick. It doesn't help when there are no parish registers for either parish before 1600

I'm not connected to either family - about 3 years ago I helped an American descendant of the Sayres and got far too involved!
