I accidently listed 'married names' as 'other last names'-edit does not allow correction

When creating profile I listed married names as 'other last names' and edit function does not allow correction.  Now on profile it says 'aka'.  Also, when search for the three combos of name, none comes up in search for birth date of 1800.

Laura, welcome to G2G forum.

I made searches for "Amanda Miller", "Amanda Hall" and "Amanda Parker" birth date of 1800 and the profile does come up. The profile comes up searching for "Amanda and" as well.

Multiple names in the "Other Last Names" field should be separeated with commas according to the following help page:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Name_Fields#Other_Last_Names

So the input in that field should be Parker, Hall instead of Parker and Hall.

If Amanda´s "Last Name as Death" was Hall, Hall should be in the "Current Last Name" field, please see:

If you created the profile, or if it is an "Open" profile, you can go in and change it - just hit "Edit" and be sure and "Save" the correct information

Amanda Miller's profile is both Open and created by her.

How do you mean 'does not allow correction'?  All you have to do is put her last married surname in 'Current Name', (say it's Parker) and the other married surname in 'Other Last Names' (say, it's Hall).  Yes, Hall will come up as an aka, but the sentence will read
Amanda Parker formerly Miller aka Hall

Make the Change

if this is a person has Both surnames, have to be the same, for one name to apear

Last Name at Birth: change to name

Current Last Name: make same

if the 2 are not the same, it will not come out correct, from there, you can only add a current last name  and 1 (other marriage, or name change).

The Last Name at Birth(this is the maiden name), it is what you set first.

once it is all worked out save

All other names are Mentioned in the Bio, highlighted if you wish, and source with the marriage, devorice, and widowed documents, if you have them, and can find them.

why do males have to have the same name? Not all males go through life with the same surname.

Dealing with error issues and what I believe she was asking, I answered. Men can change their name.. But if you want to reset a maiden name, follow what I said otherwise.. do not. This is what I do to clean a last name that could come doubled if misspelled.

The Last Name at Birth

should be on a male birth certificate, or adoption papers.

Name change would be on a name change form..
