Should I adopt both orphaned profiles in order to merge them?

I would like to merge Gibbs-791 and Gibbs-792. Should I adopt both profiles before I merge them? This is my maiden voyage at merging & I want to proceed cautiously.

I see the two different marriage years for the profiles, but Elinor Gibbs appears to have been a second wife of Spicer-182, looking at his will.

Also, I think Gibbs is her surname from a first marriage rather than a maiden name. 2nd husband Spicer-182's will refers to a "son in law Bartholomew Gibbs who gets a bequest when he turns sixteen." This suggests that Bartholomew is not a son-in-law but rather Elinor Gibbs Spicer's son from a previous marriage. Is this too conjectural to contemplate changing Elinor's maiden name -- besides, Gibbs is all I have to go on at this time.??

Thanks for your advice.

I don't see any sources listed on either profile except family trees.
They are not sources, just lists that many people copy over and over.  At present, there are close to 30 years difference in the birth and death years.  I would
advise you to see if you can find some verifiable information before
proceeding further.  Incidentally, you can adopt them to make it easy to
merge and then reorphan them after you are finished.

It appears the merge was done very shortly after the question was asked.
