Who are the parents of Philip Middleton?

Philip was born circa 1842 in Michigan USA.

He moved to England circa 1870 to run the family farm in Surrey, taking over from his uncle William and aunt Sybil, both of whom were widowed and ageing.

He married an English girl Mary Ann Wright in 1874 in London

They ran the farm until Philip's death 1902.

I am trying to trace Philip's parents. His father must have been the brother of William & Sybil. He would have been born between 1790 & 1820 in London and presumably have emigrated to USA.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like his father was the brother of Sybil Middleton Harlock.  Not much help yet, but she was born on 17 JUNE 1793, chr 26 JUNE 1793 at St. James, Westminster, Middlesex to William and Sybil Middleton.

A sister, Margaret Ann was born 23 AUG 1972 and chr 4 SEP 1792 at the same location.

As for potential father's of Philip, you've got William born in 1794, Charles in 1796 and Thomas in 1802 all at the same location and all to William and Sybil.

The 1851 census lists the elder Sybil's birth info as c1771 in Withington, Gloucestershire

Sybil Middleton appears to have had three brothers:

William b 1794 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NDWJ-W29)

Charles b 1796 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NRNK-KXX)

Thomas b 1802 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J3GW-9ZN)

Many thanks everybody. I knew of Sybil, Charles & William(My wife's Great Great Great Grandfather) and that they all lived on the family farm and that it was unlikely that they had ever lived in the USA. I had no knowledge of another brother (Thomas), therefore he is now the prime person to have been Philip's father. If anybody finds any information supporting that possibility (probably in Michigan), I'd appreciate a heads-up.

Many thanks Brenda. This has also increased the connections that I knew. I did not know that Sybil's maiden name was Hayward. Philip Middleton named his second son Charles Hayward Middleton. I think that this confirms the family connection.

What may be interesting, is that this Census information is from Ancestry and I am being drawn to suggested records in Michigan, USA for a William Middleton's death record. I can't open the record as I only have UK content.

Perhaps of interest: (Pallots Marriage Index)

Name: Sibyl Hayward
Spouse: William Middleton
Marriage Date: 1791
Parish: St. George Hanover Square

Thanks Ron.

What is Pallots Marriage Index and it is freely available to view?
I believe it's available on Ancestry, there may be other sources though.  It's a database of English marriages from 1780 until civil registration began in 1837, and covers all but a couple of churches in London along with a good number of parishes in other counties.

I think there are births too, but a lot of those records were destroyed during the Blitz, so long before digital records were available.
