Last living US-enslaved African - Kossola "Cudjoe Lewis"

+4 votes
Just listened to a great review of a newly published book written long ago by Nora Zeale Hurston about one of the last enslaved persons born in Africa, died in Alabama, Kossola aka "Cudjoe Lewis."

Fascinating story-- about him as well as the book she wrote about him.

Lacking a profile here, I created one, attached here.

Not sure what the right categories are these days.

I offer this profile to the community.

I put a few categories, but two don't exist, so I'll have to create them.  There is no category for the cemetery and Africatown.  First I'll look in the categories that are here because half the time I just made a typo or something.  But thanks for creating the profile.  That looks like a good mini-project to create profiles for everyone who lived in Africatown.

Nice.  Thanks.  Related: documenting the "passengers" of that last "slave ship" -- Clotilde.
