According J.D. Lewis's accounts of Revolutionary War Veterans, there was a Major James Hall in the Rowan County Regiment:
"He was first a Captain in this Regiment from 1780-1781, a Major under Col. Francis Locke. Killed at the battle of Cowan's Ford on 2/1/1781."
The James Halls that I see in Wikitree in Rowan County and Iredell County, North Carolina during that time frame lived longer than this. Does anyone know of another James Hall in Rowan County in the 1700s.
