Confused by how/if to start a category!

Question

I'm trying to work on memorializing the Civil War veterans who registered in Malden, Mass. I thought the best way would be a free-space page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Malden_Civil_War), but I just can NOT get the hang of tables. Now I'm thinking the easiest thing might be to start a category instead. Thoughts? Suggestions? Any help very appreciated!

First look and see if there aren't categories already.  I know that someone is attempting to locate everyone in the 54th Massachusetts Infantry so it's likely there's already a place for many Massachusetts veterans.
