My gma was Anna Bella Swift Dawson...He mother was Sarah Levina Sweezey Dawson Swift...First there is the mystery of great gma...and gma where abouts when he was born. We were told he was born in switzerland.....no info on that....then there is great, gma Henry's /sweezey's wife named changed to sarah, we are told and mom was raised to be told she was part Indian and Henry's wife was the Indian..along with her my mom;s 4 brothers and 2 sisters...so far dna there is no indian in them..Then there is John  Milton Dawson  who, kids 5 in all I think, without looking at my page. He died in 1885 of illness. The there is Mr. william Swift I would not be here nor my mom without  him g-ma would not have been here...the story goes that one of the older boys did not get along with mr. swift and he walked away one day and left everything he owned...g-ma was about 2; I think when he left. Never found out what happened to him...I do believe sarah henry's wife was indian there is an indian name which starts with J...its on my ancestry site...on my page below...I also at one point think I found them in Rose Hill New york...he was a publisher...I have actually seen one of the books that may have been his...I tried like crazy to find the name and building to no success...as of this date. Monika.. note Mr. Swift was also a preacher..IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFORMATION TO CONFIRM OR NOT CONFIRM THIS PLEASE SEND INFO TO EMAIL BELOW...THANK YOU...FOR YOUR HELP!

Hello - your message/query was tagged Ezell. I'm an Ezell. Can you tell us the reason for the Ezell tag, in case it is a clue.  Thanks, Jan Ezell Anderson

This is way late to answer but-- Volkert Dawson is listed somewhere (maybe family search) in New York State history around 1800. He was around Albany. He or one of his family was captured by the Indians. I have a Dawson gggrandfather nearby in Root, Montgomery county, New York but have found no contact.
