New Profile of Civil War Veteran !

Hi Folks!

I am working on the profile for my great great Grandfather William LaRoe who was a member of NY's 13th Cavalry Regiment. He mustered in 1862 -1865. I have tons of documents for him that I have not uploaded as of yet.

I did post a photo of his pistol which is currently in the possession of my cousin Chris LaRoe.

I am new on this site and still figuring things out. Please have a look at his profile and let me know feedback on any corrections or suggestions.

LaRoe-182

I am wondering if there is a badge or something for civil war vets or a way to tag his profile that I am not seeing. I would like him to be included in with his fellow soldiers.

This question goes also to members of my family who fought in the revolutionary war (two were loyalists, refused to join the rebels, were imprisoned, deserted the British. oy vey) and one who was in the war of 1812 and died in battle in 1814. Is there a certain thing people do when creating profiles for vets?

thanks !

You did an excellent job, especially with the photos. (And this coming from a proud son of five Confederate veterans!)

Here is the category that puts him in the Regiment.  right now there is only one other soldier listed here.

Category: 13th Regiment, New York Cavalry, United States Civil War

i do not understand this answer. where do i find categories?
on the profile page, upper right go to find then categories

Oh I'm sorry

Go to  TOP RIGHT corner of your family tree

There are  5 PULL-DOWN  titles

Go to  FIND

The pull down  will be 1st  "Categories"

Then scroll  down to  MILITARY

Then scroll down to WARS

Then to   the year:  1800-1869  for the Civil WAR

Then to  1860-1869

Then United States Civil War

I'm sure someone else can show you an easier to way to go to the

Address  BOX  and type it in  but sometimes I  do not  know the exact

Spelling  or spacing......Let me know if that is ok

I'm at  cgthome3@yahoo.com

Anything else I can help with  plz  hollar'

You did a beautiful job on the profile.  I only have one suggestion because I may be a bit of a nit-picker.  When you create links to url it looks nicer if you put the name of the website in the link.  For example.

<ref>[https://www.heraldnet.com/news/new-headstones-honor-civil-war-veterans-in-Everett/]</ref>

You'll get in the citation lists just the link and an arrow thingy.  But if you put:

<ref>[https://www.heraldnet.com/news/new-headstones-honor-civil-war-veterans-in-Everett/ Herald''Net'']</ref>

You'll get

1 HeraldNet  and also the arrow thingy

It makes it easier to read and decide if you want to click the link or not.

To do this is just simply paste the link - skip a space - and enter what you want to name the link.  Then put the brackets around the url and its name.
