Merging Comer-1260 into Comer-185 was denied. Why?

Question

The Data Doctors suggestions alerted me to the need for these two profiles to be merged.  When I clicked on merge, it said the merge had been approved and I could go ahead and complete it.  I went through and selected the data and edited the biography.  When I hit "confirm merge" to complete the process, I got an error message that the merge had been denied. 

How can I get these two profiles merged?

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Comer-185  has a green privacy status but died in 1955.

The other profile (185) has Green privacy.  You can

- get the other PM to complete the merge

- get the other PM to Open the profile

- get the other PM to add you to the Trusted List of the profile.

With the 1st option there's a considerable risk that your stuff will disappear.

What I don't understand is why the system told me approval had already been given (presumably by the other manager) and to go ahead and merge.

to follow up on the bit as to why the system told you the approval was given but you still couldn't do the merge.

It happens to anyone who is attempting a merge on two profiles when either or both are not 'open'  (even if you are a PM of one of them) - unless you are on the trust list of the locked profile then you cant do the merge - it is to stop profiles that are locked being merged to an open state
