I found a match as I was entering an ancestor now she does not show up on my tree [closed]

In the past I have merged common people this is the first time I found someone who previously existed (for sure) on someone else's tree. The profile info does not match with the tree.  If you look on the profile James Gardiner (Gardiner-2729)'s wife is listed as Charlotte Ferriier (Ferrier-402)  and yet she does not show up on the Gardiner tree

What do you mean when you say she does not show on the Gardiner tree? There is only one Wikitree. She is showing here as the wife of James Gardiner and also with a Campbell marriage. Do you think that is wrong?

When I look at her son's profile (Gardiner-1463)  it lists his father but no mother.  Charlotte Ferrier Gardiner was entered as the mother of Arthur but when she showed up in an existing profile it did not add her as mother to Aurthur.  In family tree view for subsequent generations James Gardiner does not have a spouse. When I go to add her as the mother for Arthur, Charlotte does not show up  but asks me to enter a new person. Also I entered her parents but they do not show up on her profile.

I have Charlotte Ferrier parents details but the "Daughter of [father unknown] and [mother unknown]" does not allow me to add these.  Hence her profile appears to be locked by her originator... is this the way wikitree works?  what do I do if the profile manager will not co-operate?

If you're adding a wife and it finds a match and you use it, then yes, she'll be added as the wife but she won't automatially be set as the mother of the child.  You have to go to the child and add the mother.

If you aren't on the Trusted List of a profile, you don't see the highlighted links that say "add mother" etc.  You have to go to the Edit tab.  You might want to contact the profile manager first though.

thanks... I hesitated to start entering a new profile since I expected the "add mother" link to show spouses of his father... with check boxes like I normally see when I add a child to one parents profile.

I did send a message to the profile manager but have not had a response only a week now but it. seems a shame that wikitree would allow the inaction of a profile manager to terminate a branch of a tree.  What next?

Be patient. Sometimes people have things going on in their lives and do not respond immediately. Take a look at the process for dealing with unresponsive managers to see what to do next if you do not get a response.

Thank you... I was able to add Arthur as her child.  I will wait to hear from the profile manager and in the meantime review the unresponsive profile manager protocol.
