John Adams lived in a small mining town called Centerton in Schuylkill Co., Pennsylvania before moving to New Rochester, Wood County, Ohio. He worked in the mines and his son John was a breaker boy. His father was Jacob Adams and his mother was Elizabeth Yergus. I can't find the town on any maps.

Did not find a Centerton in PA. Found one in Arkansas.

A coal town, also known as a coal camp or patch is typically situated in a remote place and provides residences for a population of miners to reside near a coal mine. A coal town is a type of company town or mining community established by the employer, a mining company, which imports workers to work the mineral find.

Thank you, Frank. I understand what a patch town is. I am wondering is there a map that would have a location. I can't find a map dating 1840-1860 with coal towns listed. Thanks again for your help.

Was it Centerton for sure? Maybe centerville? (Became Centralia in 1856) it’s like 18 miles from Llewellyn but the only thing up that way that I know of. Other thing you may want to look at is the date. Schuylkill county was Berks County before 1811 just FYI
