The Connectors Project focuses on connecting loose branches and twigs to our Global Family Tree

Connector

Many of us are able to connect to the trunk of the Global Family Tree right when we join, as we have cousins who are already here. Others, it takes some time and effort, and that's where Connectors come in.

Connectors work on open unconnected families and profiles and research to source and connect them so we're all one tree, rather than many separate ones.

With recent privacy changes, our project focus is primarily on profiles of non-living people.

There are many ways to get involved with our project including:

  • The Connectors Challenge, a monthly race to see how many already existing unconnected profiles you can connect to the tree in 30 days. Winners get nifty badges and bragging rights. (You can participate in the challenge and not be a Connector, and vice versa.)
  • The Lost and Found Project, which works to reconstruct GEDCOMs that were broken apart upon upload.
  • Working with Connecting Buddies who link Connectors together to best use their areas of expertise to make connections.
  • imageShowing how we're all cousins by connecting families who participated AJ Jacobs' Global Family Reunion with our Global Family Reunion sub-project.

If you like making connections and helping others with their family research, the Connectors project is the place for you. Just answer this question below and we'll get you a badge and a welcome!

I drop everyone that tip when I badge them; thanks for the reminder, Greg!
I would like to join the project, I have connected a few smaller unconnected lines over the past few weeks.  I will keep working on them as I can.
I would be happy to help with this project.
Hi there, May i please join this project.  I have already connected some

families,  right now I am working on a making a profile from a bible I

got at the good will.  it has family names and dates.  I did the same thing with a Civil War Diary that was abandoned.   I would love to join this project.

Hi! I joined the Connectors project on Jan 2nd; wondering about a badge. Have tried my own unconnected folks, but haven't made any progress yet. May try some of the others -- looking forward to it.
Could I be added to this project?

I would love to be able to join and support this project! smiley

I would love to be involved in this project!
I love connecting, please add me.
I'd like to be involved in this project. I am a member of the Dutch Roots Project.

Hi Abby,

I've love to join the connectors project. I enjoy connecting the Quaker profiles together!   I've just found my first Buchholz family member to connect. Bigger and better!  Here we go!

Sure, throw this in the basket of stuff I like to do. I switch between things so I don't get burned out doing any one thing.

Hello, I've been sourcing and connecting some of the lesser known branches of older Virginia families for a good while. I never thought to look for a project so let's make me official.

I would love to join! I have been diligently working away connecting the Irish immigrant families of Northeastern Pennsylvania - they all seem to be related somehow!

I would like to join the Connectors Project. I uploaded some of my Gedcom file and found that I could easily match profiles that were uploaded via other's Gedcom but were not connected. I've already started connecting.

Hi I am completely new to Wikitree but love finding connections not just for myself, myself friends often come to me if they are wanting to start their tree, they are amazed at what information can be found out there in the internet. I couldn't see the question that I was suppose to answer to get the badge and be welcome.

Regards

Lana

Have been trying to connect recent generations of ''Quebecois'' to the first to arrive in New France. Don't mind linking others of course but that is my main focus.

I always seem to be connecting people so may as well join the group. I often tend to research in specific locations rather than concentrating on single family lines and I often end up finding diverse family connections. Especially interested in North Carolina and colonial Connecticut..

I'm interested in joining the Connectors Project. I seem to have or have adopted several profiles that are unconnected, so I'll be first gearing up my efforts there.

I am so excited to start connecting families together! It is such an amazing and cool idea. I was wondering if I could join the connectors and acquire a badge?

Hi, I would love to join the connectors, and help anyway I can! I really love helping others with their family history, and can pretty much work in any area that needs the extra help (I enjoy it all really). :)

Hi Abby!

I would love nothing more than to see more profiles connected. I have been working on connecting them in my free time anyway, so it would be wonderful to officially join a challenge.

I adopted several profiles so I could connect them. Let me know what I can do to help, if you will have me! laugh

Hi Abby

I would like to become a Connector with a particular focus on profiles in England especially Sussex. I have already managed to connect a couple of Sussex profiles to the main tree and enjoyed the challenge involved. Carol Keeling has taken me under her wing and is giving me much needed support and advice. Many thanks.
