Treehouse,

I just received a bunch of disks that I purchased on Amazon full of hundreds of books over 100 years old.  I have found lots of old pictures within  these old books which are no longer covered by copyright laws.  Can these photos be used on Wikitree?

If it's truly no longer under copyright, then I wouldn't see why not. I'd just want to be sure I was right about that, and also would want to cite the source.

Citing the scource, is automatic with me.

Thanks.

As far as I understand, the re-use of scanned images from public domain works should not be subject to copyright. Many websites will endeavour to assert otherwise, but the facts do not appear to back them up. This article is particularly good background reading on the topic:

Who owns the copyright in scans of public domain works?

Thanks

I will check it out.
