Steven Simmons! Welcome to WikiTree. I hope you find this a helpful platform to "grow" your family tree. I TOO am a descendant of Willis and Jane (Goslin) Simmons and between my family and the cousins I have met here on WikiTree, we are continuing the search started by our great Aunt, Edna Simmons Campbell.
To answer your question, we have never discovered the resting place for William Simmons. We have tracked him down to Putnam County, Georgia where we believe he died in about 1815. This research is still on-going. WE DO KNOW that his wife was known only as Patience. A marriage record has NOT been found. Anything you see referring to a Sarah Brown is incorrect. My sisters and I make frequent trips to the county courthouses here in Georgia and we also have been pulling as much information about our Simmons family from the archives as we can find.... which is very slim pickings.
We are also working to straighten out the Goslin family. Not one person has the right information about Jane Goslin. I am currently writing a blog article for my sister's blog site about the family with documented results from my research. The page is fortenberry.wordpress.com. I am sure the paper will have a lot of family scratching their heads, but I do have a letter from Aunt Edna written years ago which states that even the best researchers, including her own research, had not found a connection between Jane Goslin and any other Goslin families at that time. So I have picked up where Aunt Edna left off... and with her encouragement from 35 years ago.... to continue the story of our family!
I hope you will contact me... or one of your cousins from WikiTree who also are researching these same families. Are you in the "Silver Creek Simmons" book???
PLEASE email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I would be most happy to share more information about your... OUR ... families!
