I'm looking for any information on a Brown family that moved to Bermuda from Scotland or Ireland around 1870

Their names were Duncan Brown and Margaret Brown. Duncan Brown was a sapper with the Royal Engineers. They probably had two children, one of whom was called Robert William Brown, born in 1879. To date, in spite of my best efforts I have never found any information or ancestors.

The best source for Scottish records is scotlandspeople.gov.uk. You can search their indexes for free, but need to buy credits if you want to view images of the records.

From 1871 Worldwide index of British Army

Duncan Brown, service number 8048, sapper 21st company Royal Engineers. Headquarters Cork Harbour, Ireland. National Archives ref WO 11/360.

Duncan Brown is a popular name, so not certain it is the one you are looking for.
