Walter Palmer but may not be related to the Puritan Walter Palmer

My 3x great grandmother, Mary A. Palmer, was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1798-99.  She immigrated to Chicago, Illinois in 1846 with her husband and children.  She states in one of the US census' that her mother was from England and her father was from Connecticut.  The only record from PEI that I can find lists a Palmer child born to a Serg. Walter Palmer and wife Margaret.  The index has the birth date listed as 1780 and baptismal as 1789.  The PEI genealogist the I spoke with thinks the numbers have been transposed and should both be 1798.  The problem is that I cannot find a Walter Palmer that fits this description because all of the Walter Palmers seem to be related to the Puritan Walter Palmer.  Any ideas?
