What to do if two profiles match in name only.

Hello:  Thanks for your reply to my G2G question.  The current Miles Rainwater profile shows his name, his wife's name and two sons' names.

My husband's gg-grandfather had a brother named Miles Rainwater.  We do not have the above information but we have his birthdate, his brothers' names, and ancestors going back several generations.  As you can see, the only thing that matches is the name Miles Rainwater.  We don't know if they are the same one or not..  I would like to know how to handle this.

Thanks for any help you can give me.    Terry Thurman

When you complete the profile you are asked if this is a duplicate profile. If not click on 'start a new profile," ignore the duplicate names. there are lots of same name different persons.

I would leave them as two seperate profiles. Onces you find more evidence that they are the same, you can initiate a merge.

Every so often I check for duplicate/matches. These profiles will show up in the list again and again, so you won't forget ;-) and might inspire you to start another hunt for more information.

I have several of these 'I'm-not-sure'-profiles.
