I'm so excited! I watch all the Royal televised things! This Royal wedding is at 4:30 am here in Indiana! I'll be up watching history be made!

I work tonight until 10pm and have to be at my brother's house to help with a garage sale at 7am - not getting up at 3am to watch. lol  I'll catch the dress and such later.
I just woke up and saw she is now married.  Her profile needs updated, she is no longer 25 degrees from the Queen.

As a Genealogist descended from Royal lines, I have no interest in this farce and break with Royal tradition. Plus, - prior to the recent removal-privatizing  of the Windsor and Markle  family tree from Wiktree, it was clear that Megan Markle blood lines are not common as publicized. Since the wedding it is no longer possible for Wikitree genealogists to check these lines, nor to see how we are related to these people. I am very angry about this.
Have you noticed that Wikitree has removed Megan Marble and the Windsor-1 trees since the wedding? They are no longer publically  available for checking one's genealogy. This is shameful. People who make their living by being in the public eye, can't claim privacy, - especially when their bloodlines are already in the public domain. Last weeks wedding brought unwanted publicity to the facts of who Megan marble really was. It was easy to verify that the news agencies were correct when they were stating that Megan Markle had shared bloodlines with the Windsors. Was pressure put on Wikitree. Wikitree can't function if we all were to make our trees Private.

Does anyone know if the deceased members of the Royal Windsor family still public? I haven't checked yet.
That's horrible! Hope someone has an explanation!!
I worked until 11pm that Friday, went for a 1 1/2 walk and got home in time for the start of the coverage on CNN and BBC America.  Things got going in earnest and I stayed up way to late (like 6:30am) and decided to go to bed after Bishop Curry's sermon that I did not care for at all.

BBC America reaired it again Saturday night and I was able to watch more of it the parts I really tune in for like the carriage ride with the Household Cavalry.

Yes, and it was awesome! Beautiful service, beautiful church, beautiful dress, beautiful music. And multi-cultural too! I think she will need to be added to the EuroAristo project as she is now the Duchess of Sussex. One of the commentators on CBS News says she is more like the Duchess of Success :)

It was so good to see her mom there and I wish more of her family could have attended. We need to fill out their trees too. Some of those profiles need adopting.

I watched it while on WikiTree and by checking relationship finder results I found that I am a very distant cousin to both Meghan and Harry. I would have never thought that.
Thanks! I saved my connection to Meghan Markle before the wedding if anyone wants to see it send me a private message. I am looking to see if I saved my connection to QEII also. I hope so. I lost my connection to Jefferson Davis a few years ago and would love to see that again. So I save my favorite ones. I saved my new connection to Queen Victoria this week, as I am reading her biography. I thought I had connections to the Presidents, but I was unable to prove that line. Oh well!

I have zero interest. I may watch some highlights on YouTube but that is about all.  I do have a strong interest in Royal history however.  I'm just not into worshipping the Royal family today.  I do strongly believe in preserving the Monarchy and all its beautiful traditions however. Please enjoy the wedding and happy for your enthusiasm!

Not me. Not my scene.

So Deb?
Have you checked to see how many degrees you are from Meghan on the connection finder?  Have you also checked if you are related to her?

She seems to be connected to french canadians way back in the 1600s so she might have rather a lot of french canadian relatives.
My husband is an 11th cousin to Meghan Markle - and also 24 degrees of connection from her.

I am not related to Megan, but I am currently 25 degrees of connection from her - and that does NOT go through the royal family.

Once Meghan and Harry are married, Megahn will then become 17 degrees of connection from me - because my family has a close cousin connection to Princess Diana.

Hi. Your connection is interesting indeed! I am related to royalty through my paternal grandmother. I still need to connect my Ball line to the Royals. I am 24 degrees from Meghan and 19 degrees from the Queen. It is all very kewl how we are all connected on this earth!!
Robynne, I can't figure out who her French Canadian connection is.
Could you please tell me what the name is for that ancestor ? Thanks
Start from Meghan and go up the tree - Megan Markle, Thomas Markle, Doris Sanders, Gerturde Merrill, George Merrill, Bessie Smith, John Smith (x2), Mary Page, Shubael Page, Christopher Page, Thomas Page - then across to Thomas's sister Margaret Page who married a Moulton, and we go back down the descendents - Sarah Moulton, Jonathan Haims, Joseph Hims, Marie Louise Hinse who married a French Canadian with the surname of Noel - her son Jean Bernard dit Ben Noel-924, his daughter Genevieve Noel, her daughter Seraphie Hache, her daughter Celina Gauvin, her son Romain Duclos, His son Alphonse Duclos, his Daughter Diane Therese Duclos (who was my mother in law), and finally her son Andre Lozier - who is my husband!!

There is a bit of a problem around Jean Bernard dit Noel - there are 2 profiles - duplicates - BUT one of them lists a child named Basile Noel for whom I can find NO records at all - and other profile is mine for whom i have records as listed of the children.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/No%C3%ABl-924

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Noel-1078

The profile manager of Noel-1078 has not been active since 2016 and he did not respond when I sent him a message, so I havent done anything.

If you have any questions, by all means ask me, and I should be able to help, and explain.

Ciao

Robynne

PS - this specific connection to me, will be lost after she gets married. As I explained earlier - the connection will be changed after she gets married and her profile is linked to Harrys. But I have saved screen shots of this current connection.

Since Meghan and my husband are 11th cousins, this relationship will of course show up in the relationship calculator.
Thanks for the full explanation :)  I will see if I can find anything to solve the confusion.

Me! Me! Me!  I'm still debating getting up at 3am PST or just DVR and watch later.  I love big ceremonies of any kind.

Maybe, it's starts at 7pm Saturday eastern Australian time, so no getting up early.

I might just have it on in the background and get on with a few other things.

Yes! I can't wait! I love all the pomp and circumstance, high church, fancy clothes, unbelievable hats, fancy carriages and uniforms. What a wonderful show they put on! I wish Meghan and Harry a happy marriage and I am rooting for her mom to be the person to walk her down the aisle!
by Living Troy G2G6 Pilot (175k points)
Prince Charles will be walking her down the aisle. (I was rooting for her mom, too!)

yes I will. For me there's no time zone problem, this one hour makes nearly no difference. As to the relationship to her I might (not really sure yet) keep my 38 degrees connection to her, as to her (still future) grandma-in-law I am connected in 35 degrees.... Erm, which one will be shown when there are 2 ways with the same # of degrees?
by Jelena Eckstädt G2G Astronaut (1.5m points)
It's just down the road from me and I will do everything I can to avoid it! It's a fallacy to think all Brits are royalty mad. A lot of us, especially the young see it as being part of the country's past rather than its future. Don't get me wrong, these two seem a nice couple and on a personal level I wish them all the best, but should they spend the rest of their lives at the taxpayer's expense and in the fullness of time, Harry's brother automatically become Head of State? No, not in my book.

I'm with Derek Allen. I think we should stop that kind of nonsense in the United States as well. Can anyone say Kennedy?

I watched it while adding sources to the Braille family, and I enjoyed it, in spite of the annoying commentary by the very talkative hosts on French TV. No need to get up early though, it was 1 p.m. here. The bride and groom were a real joy to see.
