I am looking for information about the Tarpley Family in Giles County, Tennessee

Question

My family tree on my father's side is hitting a dead end when I get to my great grandfather, Herman Tarpley. I have his birth date, death date, wife's information (her tree branch is filling out thus far easily). I have been unable to locate any records on him further than December 1923 when she and Carrie Mae Dawes were married in Giles County Tennessee. I am looking for his parent's names and where they originate from so I can try to research further back into my family history.

There is a great chance that the parents of Herman Tarpley were Jerome R. and Mary A. Tarpley. Please see the following 1910 US Census sheet:

Herman is listed in line 81, 7 y/o. Jerome and Mary were 53 and 51.

Possible father of Herman Tarpley born 1860. If true, then, John C and Hellen Tarpley would be Hemman's paternal grandparents.

Thanks, there seems to have been a couple of lines of the Tarpley family in Giles and the surrounding counties during this time frame. This one may pan out to be a different set of relatives.

I found a census record for her which had her parents listed as being Minnie Dawes and W.W. Dawes. A bit more digging and I found Minnie Jane (Duncan) Dawes and William Walter Dawes as her parents. However there seems to be spelling variances between the census records I found. One of them has the surname spelled as Daws, but the next document for the same family had Dawes. Have you run across this variance in your research?
