So Rice Whitaker returned to the Claiborne Co Tennessee court with the inventory of Giles Whitaker's estate. However it appears that the inventory was filed separately from the minutes of the Court? New .jpg on Rice's profile. Any idea where I should look for this inventory or the original will? It may have been lost in a courthouse fire. I'm beginning to think a course of action would be to look for male Whitakers who died in 1830/31 in Claiborne Co., Tennessee and see if I can make a connection between them and Rice since there does not appear to be definitive proof that Giles was the father? Any hints more than welcome!
Also in 1788, at the time of Rice's birth Claiborne Co did not exist. It was not formed until 1802. So if he was born in Tennessee it would have been Grainger or Hawkins Co. But I have a note that says born Virginia. Which could still be the same piece of land, as Virginia claimed the eastern lands for a while. Anyone got a spare genie in a bottle? I'll only use one wish, I promise!
