Hello Wikitreers,

The England Project is looking for people who are interested in England, have English Ancestors, or who would just like to come and help in the project.
Our project members are dedicated, friendly people, whose main goal is to improve, source and generally make sure that England profiles are accurate and
presented to a high standard, which honours the person.

It doesn't matter if you are an experienced Wikitreer or have just joined and are still finding your way around, you will be given as much support as you need
whilst you get used to the intricacies of English records and the nuances of the towns and cities.

Your first stop would be our newly formed Orphans Team, where you would work on England orphaned profiles that are in need of some TLC. Hone your skills and maybe
learn new ones, as you settle in and meet our members. From there the sky is the limit. We have a number of sub projects which you could join, from
helping with a county or working on profile improvement by sourcing, connecting and biography writing to develop profiles of a high standard.
Remember, every snippet of sourced information added to a profile brings it to life.

Check out our [https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:England England Project] page to learn more.

You will be awarded the United Kingdom badge when you join and also be invited to join our google group.
Follow Tags for United_Kingdom and England so you can keep up to date.

If you are new to Wikitree and have not become a full member, you will need to volunteer and sign our honor code to receive your wiki genealogist badge, which is a necessity for editing profiles.

Remember, you can still use the England Sticker for people born in England and England Ancestor Sticker on your own profile.

If this opportunity interests you, then please click the ANSWER button and include your Wiki ID in your answer.

Thank you for the invitation to join the England team. I will join, but not just at the moment. I still have a backlog of profiles to enhance and extend. When I have completed those I will build into the 1600s in the England team

See you soon

Warm regards, Josephine
Hello Josephine,

I will look forward to seeing you when you have cleared your backlog. You are very wise choosing to do that before you join the England Project.  It is all too easy to overload oneself with tasks.

-Gilly
I will not join. But i will help with research,if give me names dates and where.

Thank you Wayne for your generous offer. I see that you are a Member of the US History Project and that your kind generosity has been noticed previously.

I'm working on my brick walls in England which are numerous.
In particular the names Hicking, Hickingbottom, Heath and Constable.
Looking forward to having the opportunity to participate in this project.
by Wayne Hicking G2G3 (3.2k points)
Wayne I am just catching up on G2G communications. Delighted you decided to join us.

-Gilly
Dear Wayne

I have quite a lot of information on th Constables of East Yorkshire based originally I Flamborough bu later several other places including Wassand Halll near Hornsea, Burton Constable (one of England's great Country Houses in central Holderness) and Everingham.

Even if your Constables are not based in East Yorkshire they probably trace back to this family,

I'm interested on working on the Culmer-59 tree in particular - I know it joins to mine via Culmer-450, and I'd love to put that join in place with supporting documentation.

I am so glad you answered here in the G2G Donelle. As I didn't acknowledge your communication here previously I'm just dropping by to say 'Hello'.

-Gilly
Thanks, but have decided that neither me nor my efforts felt particularly welcome in the project. Wish you well, but I'm just gonna keep doing my own tree.

I have a massive interest in Devon thanks to my Devon ancestors. I've been working on the parish of Chittlehampton for some time adding many profiles. If you look into the Category: Chittlehampton, Devon you'll see my work. (Also added St Hieritha's Church to the cemeteries of Devon).

Hi there, good folks of The England Project!

My dad and three of my grandparents were born in England, so i won't get far on my family tree if i don't include my English ancestors!  The counties involved are Devon, Derbyshire and Cambridgeshire - but i already know that Yorkshire is going to be involved as well.

Looking forward to joining the Orphans Team!

Cheers

Hello Greg - I am replying from the G2G Forum. Thank you for sharing your heritage here - I am so interested in reading it and I see that you are already a Member of our Irish Project and also our Scottish Project.  Welcome to the England Project!

-Gilly
Hello Greg,

I am just responding to your nice reply in our G2G Forum.  I loved reading about your family and ancestors - thank you so much. Delighted you have joined our England Project.
Thanks, Gilly. I just don't know where I'm going to find the time to manage all the groups I am in. :) Unfortunately, I need to track my main Smith line, which dates to 1852. No way of knowing where James Henry Smith (b. 1852) came from. He says Jersey on his marriage certificate but there's no record of him there. Big sigh.
Just thinking about your  possible Jersey connection Greg.  I wonder if there is a Local Jersey historical Society - must look about on the net and see if I can find one. I know what you mean about finding the time ....no hurry - just do what you can when you can.

-Gilly
Hi, Gilly. Yes, there is one and I have tried them. I suspect the chap was doing his best to hide his origins. The address on his marriage certificate said: "all around the Australian coast". He was a mariner. Terribly disappointing that it's my paternal line but I guess that's the difficulty with Smith :)

Regards

Greg
