Taking the DNA test

My brother took the DNA test and I have his results: Y chromosome RL48; Mitochondrial  V. I'm assuming that if I took the test the results will be the same .I'm a female. Am I right?

Nope. Particularly if you are not the same sex, your DNA will NOT be identical.

The only people who may expect to have the same DNA are identical twins.

As a female you do not have Y-DNA. If you and your brother have the same mother then you will have both inherited your mtDNA from her, but be aware that there could be a mutation giving a slight difference between the two of you.

If I didn't have my brother's info, then how would it be possible to trace my father's DNA? I've already traced his ancestry without the DNA help, but my brother's results confirmed it (sort of). I don't think the DNA testing is all that important if a female cant trace the paternal line. Perhaps contact with another relative might allow us to share information but that's all I can think of. There are a lot of MtV people out there.
