Do people add information such as work, household number of slaves? ect. land holdings?

If I find information and documentation, I usually add it under the notes section and if it photo documentation... I will upload the photo, and add all members of the family listed as a source document.

All the time - I think sometimes genealogy gets too lost in the when and where and forgets about the who.

Totally agree!  I've been doing genealogy to one degree or another since the late 1950s and I've always been more interested in the lives of the ancestors and their stories.  The basic pedigree info is needed for the tree, but info on how they lived their lives, their successes, failures and what kind of people they were is what keeps their memory alive.
