Did not find Daniel Cain, son of Jacob and Jane Cain. If he was born in 1838, he would have been about 12 at the time of the 1850 US Census.

The Daniel Cain family information passed down to me had an additional three men that were sons of Daniel Cain.  Because I have only found the first names with no further information: ie; date of birth, mother, nothing more, I did not use these names when I named the children of Daniel Cain for Wikitree.  Without references, I did not use them.  There was a son of Daniel and Sarah Knight Cain who shows up in the 1820 and 1830 census along with a daughter that we've proven to be Hattie Cain Griffy.  One of the names of interest was Jacob.  Do you have any further information about the Jacob that you found?  Do you have anything further about his wife, Jane Mendenhall?  Could she have been from Greene Co., Ohio?

I don't have a lot more, Jane Amelia Bristow was previously married to Taliaferro Mendenhall and widowed. She and Jacob married in Fountain County, IN, 28Mar1836. I believe her date of birth to be 11Mar1810 or 11 (difference between one record and tombstone) in OH. They appear together in the census until 1880 when she is found living with her son from the first marriage, Absolom Mendenhall, in Havana, Montgomery, KS and Jacob is nowhere to be found. The likely inference is that he is dead before the summer of 1880, however, when Jane dies in 1899, Absolom has her buried as Jane Mendenhall making me wonder if there was some bad blood there. Could Jacob have abandoned her or caused her to leave him. If so, where the heck did he get to?
