Hessian Troops In America

Would it be possible to create a tag for the 30,000 German soldiers who served in America as part of the British forces during the American Revolution?

4,500 of these men went on to settle in the United State. Their military records are well documented in the German website "HETRINA"--Hessian Troops in North America.

My great 4 grandfather, Peterman Hardman-876, arrived in America about 1764.  He immigrated from Ingleheim-am-Rhine, State of Hesse and received a land grant, however, no record he fought in the War.  He may have since the Hessians were given land grants as pay for fighting, remembering, they turned from the British at Yorktown and helped win the war.  On his profiie ia a picture of a Hessian soldier and copy of the Declaration of Independence in German I took in a 17th century museum in the State of Hesse, Germany.

There is a category for the Hessian troops who fought in the Revolutionary War. It is a sub-category of both the American Revolution Category and the German Roots Category.

It is here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Hessians%2C_American_Revolution

As you can see, it only has fifteen soldiers entered so far - so lots of room to grow.

My ancestor https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tinkess-31 would fit in this catorgory.
I added him!
Thank you!
And I added Christian Hootman! Now to add his brothers.

I like to join these projects I have serveral German ancestors. This is the only Hessian soldier I have though. Boy I thought I never find him or his family. And still having tons issues on him. Found him listed in DAR as well under different name. Apparently he deserted changed his name. His family incomplete so can’t add him to family as of yet. I have his grandchildren documented is there anyway of tracing these Hessian back to Germany and get records.

Can I get someone to send me tag for Hessian Soldiers who fought for Britain. I found another Hessian and like to get him in to the right group. I posted the other one earlier but he fought on both sides. Looks like this one just fought for Britain.
