Steven Harris has created an app for assisting with the new immigration category structure, which will help anyone figure out which category to use on a profile:

Thanks, Steven, this is excellent!!

Thanks Natalie. The app is still very much an infant and a work in progress, and for the most part should be considered a beta release, so if there are any questions, issues, or suggestions on what can be improved, I am all ears.

When I get a chance, I will work up a free-space page to document the app a bit further and link it here.
Great! Looking forward to seeing that.

Hi.  I had a go with the app.  It is helpful.  It does highlight a problem in naming.  Category names must be unique. You need (a) an unambiguous naming system or (b) the app needs a database of name clashes with the preferred resolution or (c) you need to be able to refer a name clash to the project team for consideration.  Try this example: a person emigrates from Georgia (in the Caucasus) to Georgia (in the United States).  There will be other name clashes.  The app needs to detect when a name clash occurs.

either that or it needs to display a higher category like Georgia, United States and Georgia, Europe. (yes, Georgia is almost Asia as well)

This would clear up what is going on.
I agree.  I prefer two-part names throughout, except for countries, so we would have Emigrants from Georgia, Immigrants to United States, Migrants from Georgia to Georgia, United States; Migrants from Transylvania, Romania, to Pennsylvania, United States;  Transylvania, Romania, to Pennsylvania, United States; Dallas, Scotland to Dallas, Texas.
