OK.  If Immigrants to Texas is the correct category, then which category applies for Immigrants to Georgia?  If it refers to the US State of Georgia, it would have to be Immigrants to Georgia, United States.  Otherwise you will get immigrants to Tbilisi and Atlanta filed in the same category.  Comments!!

Good point.
I'm sure you could tell by their parent subcategory but it will still look really confusing on the profile if you have someone immigrate from Georgia to Georgia. LOL
Agreed. You could go from Venice to Venice (Italy to California), Ontario to Ontario (California to Canada), and Pennsylvania to Pennsylvania (USA to Gloucestershire).  I don't think they have got their system right.

If you are going to include towns or cities, I know plenty right in Maine that could cause mass confusion.

China, Poland, Peru, Norway, Mexico, Egypt, etc etc etc.

Yes.  In England we have places called Wales (in Nottinghamshire), Ireland (in Bedfordshire), Jericho (Yorkshire) and many others.  Come to think of it, someone could migrate from Boston to Boston, Washington to Washington.  Endless hours of fun.
this is so popular it got another thread. lol

Ambiguation has already been discussed with the Categorization Project. For Georgia, it was decided that the country would be listed as [[Category: Emigrants from Georgia (country)]] and [[Category:Immigrants to Georgia (country)]].

In regards to Malcolm's comments re: Venice and Ontario, there are currently no plans for the Migration categories to drill down to the city level - so the these are a non-issue.
