Mathilda A. was 2d wife of Joseph H. Davis (Davis-26280).  A descendant line says she was born in Spencer Co KY, evidently in early 1830s, as a Rooker.  Possibly Rucker; many Ruckers in KY, a few Rookers.  Joseph's 1st wife died in Cincinnati following the birth of a child in 1850.  Mathilda's first known child b. c. 1855.  She is on 1860 census (Joseph listed as James) 1870 census and as widow in 1880, all in St Louis MO.  2 or 3 Mathilda Davises died in that area between 1890-1910, none a match for her.  Have found nothing else.  This whole line is enough to make you bite the back of your neck.
