Capt. John Williams?

Hello all,

I have recently taken on management of a few Mason orphan profiles and in the course of sourcing and improving, I have stumbled over something I wish to correct. I took on Amey Williams Mason (Williams-1016) when I found a source that included her. There was a note on the profile that her father had been lost in a bad merge. Sure enough, Williams-1017 disappeared into a Rogers profile. Anywhoo, a little research tells me Amey's father is Capt. John Williams, Jr from Groton, Connecticut. He lived from 1739 to 1781, when he was killed at the Battle of Fort Griswold.

I wish to make sure that there truly isn't a current profile for this man before I start a new one. Once I do, would one of the projects be interested in taking him over?

There certainly are a lot of men named John Williams at WikiTree, 2nd only, I think, to the number of John Smith's.

What if you would just go ahead and enter Capt. John Smith as Amey's father?
Haha, very true. I will get him going.

I did a search for your John Williams and I do not believe he is already on here.  I searched with dates, then with keywords.

Thank you very much for looking. I couldn't find anybody who matched up either, but as Frank pointed out, there are a lot of profiles. Since you have looked also, I feel more confident that I'm not missing something.
