Is there a way around a stalled "5-minute" merge-in-progress (after 1 hour)? [closed]

(Not sure if this is a "Help" or a "Tech" question.)  I'm trying to merge Pavitt-176 into Paverd-3, am on the Trusted List for both and the manager of 176 supports the merge.  However, I keep getting the red-banner message that this merge "is already in progress by another user", but promising that if it "is not completed in five minutes", I can merge it.  After several tries, far more than five minutes later, I can't find a way to complete the operation.  Am I missing some key step??

The other manager is literally on the other side of the globe, and I can't believe we are -- repeatedly -- trying to complete the merge at exactly the same time.

Whoops -- belay that question -- I found the answer below.  Have reset the pair as an unmerged match and will restart the merge process from there.
