Was John "1st Earl Spencer" Spencer a horse owner

Did John travel about with stud horses which were used to breed mares on the land leaseholders property?  I have ancestors which leased acreage near Naseby and we believe he visited their property. I have a special reason for asking this if anyone knows the answer to my question.  Thanks.

Not as far as I can see. Apart from saying that he loved to hunt ODNB says nothing about horses.

Been thinking about this. Unless John was known to be eccentric then the answer is no. He was an aristocrat. Reckon he would have had good horses so the stud fees would have been large and I imagine that a mare would have been brought to his stables rather than the other way around but surely he wouldn't have had much to do with it unless he was eccentrically horse mad. Please tell us why you ask.

His grandfather built massive stables at Althorp so presumably there was a family interest in horses.
