Has James Wills (b 1740, d. c. 1821) been confirmed as a son of Matthew Wills and Frances Chisman Smith?

I recently have been exploring my Wills family history, which I had understood "deadended" at James Wills, (born about 1740 and died about 1821).  Recently, in looking at numerous family geneologies online, I have seen him listed as a son of Matthew Wills and Frances Chisman Smith.  Given the link to Col. George Reade that Frances Chisman Smith provides, I can understand why people might be inclined to make this leap of faith.  I do wonder though if something more concrete has recently been discovered that  substantiates the linkage between Matthew and James?  Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Is this James Wills the sibling of Henry Wills, and did he work as a printer of the Edenton Gazette/ State Gazette of North Carolina?
