Við erum að leita að tengja 24. forsætisráðherra Breska Kólumbans, Bjorn Ingemar Jónssonar, við aðalatriðið. Faðir hans var Oliver Jónsson, fæddur á Íslandi um 1864. Móðir hans var Guðrún Friðsson, fæddur á Íslandi 24. apríl 1863. Getur einhver fengið fæðingardag og fæðingarstaði og fundið foreldra sína? Þakka þér fyrir.

the Icelandic Roots database has lots of info on Icelanders and their ancestors; unfortunately, a paid site, but you may be able to do a one-month membership to search for information.  They also have lots of help with sources, etc

Unfortunately, I think you need better names of his parents or some place more narrow than just Iceland. Oliver is not an Icelandic name and a woman would not have a -son name.

I tried searching for Guðrún Frið* in the cencus database and that generated more than 3.900 matches.

Agreed. Gudrun would have the patronymic Fridsdottir, not Fridsson. Maybe try Fridriksdottir or Fridfinnsdottir. With regards to Oliver it might be worth looking to see if he was originally Olof before he emigrated.

I'll keep working on the Canadian end, but all the records I've found so far have used the anglicised names. I have found some more clues. The 1901 Canada census gives a birthdate of 1863-10-01 for "Oliver", and reports that he immigrated in 1888 and Gudrun immigrated in 1885. Their marriage certificate also gives the names of their parents, although the clerk's handwriting is pretty bad. Gudrun's death certificate also lists her parents, with very different spelling, but what the clerk misheard might provide a clue to the real names.

And thank you very much for checking the census, Maggie.

Ah. I found a site called Lögberg Heimskringla with an article on Boss Johnson. It says,

He was born on December 10, 1890, in
Victoria, British Columbia, to Ólafur Jónsson
(Oliver Johnson) and Guðrún Arnfinnsdóttir
(Guðrún Finnson), both of whom were born
in Iceland. His paternal grandparents were Jón
Jónsson (John Johnson) and Valgerður Grímsdóttir and his maternal grandparents were Arnfinnur Arnfinnsson and Ingigerður Björnsdóttir, all of whom were born in Iceland.

That was a great find Greg.
