Why does name search not list all persons of same surname and given name.

Often when searching for a person by given and surname
other names are listed. I often can not find people that I have researched before.

You may need to sort by different criteria or apply more filters. There is a limit of 100 profiles shown in the initial search.

There is a short list of filters at the bottom of the search results, under where you enter the name you're searching for.  One of the filters is "Include matches with surname variants?" that is automatically set to "yes."

If you say "no,"  It should narrow down the search closer to who you are actually looking for.
