Benny Hill is offically connected to the tree.

Yes, I did it.  I noted in a different post today that I noticed to my utter horror that British Comedian and genius Benny Hill, though while he had a profile, was not an official notable nor was he connected to the tree.

Slightly off the subject, I'm all for replacing the statue of that Nelson guy, in Trafalgar Square with Benny Hill, the best British person ever.  I really should start a petition.  But I digress....

I took it upon myself as a challenge to not only make him a notable, but connect him to the tree.

And to toot my own horn...

I DID.

I added the appropriate notable tags and started adding family members.  All sourced of course.  It seems that Benny Hill is a descendant of the Maundrell/Mandrell Family of Wiltshire.

If anyone else is interested in working on his family the other surnames are

Hill

Mandrell

Summersbee

Cave

Sims

But here is the man of the hour...

Benny Hill.

Ok, so I'm feeling particularly proud of myself, so sue me.  I watched a lot of benny hill as a kid.    I should probably do the guy they slapped on the head all the time next.....

Good job! My brother was quite the fan and would watch and giggle with my father, but I was made to go to bed early. Oh, the injustice!
I've added some more information on his parents and sister.
Love it!  Good work
Sometimes the best of the best just pisses off the rest ie. those who determine who the best is. Benny was a CLASSIC!!  Humor that transcends time. Although British, I never saw it as "British" humor. It was just HUMOR. Unlike anything that qualifies as humor today. too bad, this old world could use a good laugh.

Well done!!  I Can't believe that I never knew that Benny was not his real name!!!

I vaguely seem to remember someone named Barbara Mandrell?

Perhaps the Mandrell sisters?

Were/Are they American?

Are they related?

Barbara was a Country-Western singer ... on TV like in the 70's ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Mandrell

That's fantastic.  Well done.  Oh, the memories are flooding back. I'm intrigued as to how his sergeant major would have coped in the Second World War.
