Does a lack of similarity of names indicate a different family?

Still on the topic of the 1839 will of Samuel Miller (could he still be George Miller's father without mentioning him in the will).  Samuel names sons Alfred, Samuel and Edward.  George Miller's Family, children, grandchildren etc., didn't use these names.  Instead they favored William, George, James, Henry, Charles and Reuben.  Samuel's wife was Phebe Kidney.  There are no females in the family with the name Phebe.

Doing genealogy like I have, same name do not mean same family, but it is helpful, follow the records, follow the graves, follow Marriage, Wills, birth, deaths, and land rights,

Forexample the parrish line it is all mixed up, very simular names, but not everyone is connected like people feel.  People with the same name are not direct family like Elihu Parrish & Elihugh A Parrish, completely different families.

None of my Miller's repeat name's.  They pass the first name down in the middle name. I don't know if that helps. you'll need the marriage, birth and death and millitary records some times to get the middle name.

Thank you, Amy.  I see what you mean. With George and his real descendants I can prove, the same male first names keep popping up.  My late cousin Gloria Miller who was researching George thought we'd find one of these common names, John was another one, as his father.  But maybe not if there was a break in the family.

There's not as many middle names in my Millers.  The first two sons of George had no middle names.  On other family names I find a maiden name from a previous generation used as a middle name.  Example: James Holly Bartlett's mother was Mary Holly.

What you say about your Millers is interesting because while George's first two sons had no middle name, the one that had children, my ancestor, William, gave his 3 sons middle names: Henry, Reuben and Russell.  Perhaps one of those is the grandfather's name.  I will keep searching.  There must be the answer somewhere.

Amelia Grant Miller

Grant is normally a male name.. I can't help but wonder if it was her Mother's Maiden name.  food for thought.. Normally I would look in the census before and after.. for grants near by in that area, to see if it is possible, but the census is not online.

Thank you Amy,  Yes these are the children George had with his second wife.  I have them in the tree I was developing.  There's also another son, Robert Boyd Miller.  All of them were born in Ontario.  As to your thought that Amelia Grant Munro's mother might have been a Grant, that's a good idea.  Her father was Hugh Munro, born Rehoboth, Massachusetts, 1765, died Edwardsburgh, Ontario 1855, at age 90. His wife that is mentioned in records was Grace Fraser.  They are both listed in the Loyalists of Ontario records on Ancestry. But the record says they married 27 Sep 1833.  Clearly, she was not the mother of Amelia Grant Munro, but a second wife.  So perhaps the first wife was a Grant.  Hugh was a lieut. in the Loyal Rangers.
