Manuel Simas,or simers?

Question

I knew his wife was from Ireland. but where was he from? I knew they settled in Sacramento, CA. they had 4 sons. Emanuel, john,Daniel, Thomas.

I dont have any datex for his birth or death, but his wife  was born in 1830 and died in 1907.  Their son john u simas was born in 1865

Census records should help. If you find Manuel’s record it will give you state or country. If you don’t find him, the records for his children, if you find them, should gives the father’s place of birth.

I suspect the two main candidates are California or Portugal. If Portugal, the Azores is a strong possibility.

I couldnt find him on the census. Found his wife and boys. All it says is father of foreign birth.

When I looked at the census records, it seems likely that Simas is Portuguese.
