Need a leader to switch the PPP for these merges please

Several duplicates have been identified that should be merged into Foix-36, to end up with the correct LNAB, one of which is DeFoix-4, which needs the PPP removed and placed on [[Foix-36]] please.

if someone would be so kind.

Thank you.

Hi! I think since born France, Foix might not be correct (but DeFoix is not correct either - see [this page]). I added the french_roots tag.

EDIT - Using the Foix LNAB would reinforce the notion that this person is connected to the Comtes de Foix, and AFAIK there is no evidence of such a connection. For this reason I would recommend using Defoix or perhaps de_Foix as LNAB. This is only my opinion of course.

There are more duplicates of this profile around. Four profiles at least, by the looks of it.
Si la famille vient d'Ille-et-Vilaine, le patronyme pourrait être DEFOY ou DEFOIS.
Thank you David
I received 4 emails asking for merges. We have very little information from sources so I have opened this for Project members. Please don’t add anything without a source.  Current sources depend on different iterations of databases gleaned from Ancestry family trees.

I am in favor of holding off this merge and considering carefully before applying Aristocrats naming standards to this profile. I do not believe she should have the Foix LNAB if she is not noble.

The problem duplicate is De_Foix-70, with problematic parents attached. Please take a look the parents' profiles, and Agnès Gaston's ancestors. I would be grateful if someone could make sense out of this.

IMO we should only use the Euro Aristo standard is Marie is confirmed as a member of the Foix-Navarre family - otherwise, and I am sorry for sounding harsh, we are only perpetuating a myth.

Thanks Isabelle

Sorry I'm away from home for another week and not really in a position to really investigate, but does Marie really exist, but her surname is Unknown, or is she and her husband effectively invented?

I'm also not sure if she is usually connected to the Gaston legendary ancestry, which is what I was working on at one point, as there appears to be only 1 of the profiles that connect her to Jean and Agnes as parents.  Perhaps she can be disconnected from them?  Also it looks like the parents for that profile could be merged with the grandparents, but I can look at that once I am back home.

I agree though we should hold off on the merge until some of these questions are sorted out.
I really could not tell. Even the information on the descendants is very imprecise (what we have on WikiTree does not give much to go on at least). The dates and places are so vague I don't know where to start - and that includes the first generation of descendants. Normally the sort of family group that makes me want to run away screaming. We don't have enough evidence to conclude Marie's identity is correct and even her husband's name has variations which are not that close.

I guess Marie should be disconnected from the parents, certainly, but that will not be enough to validate her profile.

The tree duplicates for André Fourche/Forshay/Forsee have four sons named John between them with at least 3 completely different wives.

Could someone tell for sure when they migrated, with which group of people?
I was intrigued by the vague reference to Huguenot migration on one of the profiles.  Husband André is not on the Huguenot society approved members page (not, in and of itself final word), there's hardly any discussion of him on the message boards, no presence in AmericanAncestors (NEHGS) or familysearch. Even a google search (various combos) revealed hardly anything.

I did not try the son, though.

Thank you Liz and Isabelle.

It's looking like "Defoix" will likely be the LNAB to use.  Whatever is decided, it will be easier to have the four profiles I already had set up, to be merged into one Marie.  As for De Foix-70, it is the only one with parents, problematic or otherwise, and it appears John Atkinson has that up-line pretty well covered, and Mr. Duggar is willing to do whatever we need..  I have asked John to weigh in here.

Thanks Dan, I've commented on Isabelle's answer.

The Arborist project would like to know who is taking the lead on this issue to come up with a solution.   It has been a month since this discussion and the merges went to default approval, now are "matched".

Thank you for putting this issue back on track, Robin.

I'm sorry, I can't help. I have not seen a source I could understand that really confirmed this Marie and her husband existed.
