The Alexander you've noted is the grandson. The Alexander Leftridge Richardson I'm researching was born 2-6-1805 in Ashe or Wilkes County, N.C. and died 2-1-1889 in Alleghany County, N.C.. His wife was Martha Patsy Cheek. Our current family tree indicates his father may have been an Elisha, but I can't verify that information. This Alexander L. Richardson was the father of Meredith (spelling?) and grandfather of Alexander that you have referenced. Thanks.

Thanks for clearing that up. There are a few Richardsons on the census of 1850 in Ashe county North Carolina.

One of note is James Richardson aged 79 and wife Ruth Richardson. They are on page 43 of the census. Could these be his parents?
That's something I will certainly look into. Thanks!!!
I have been trying to prove that my grgr grandmother Malinda or Lydia Richardson, Carpenter was a sister to this Alexander. I also have Elisha and Sarah Reed as his parents but no proof.

Thanks for your help. Part of the problem is that there are at least two Alexander Richardsons. Alexander Richardson born 1872 is actually the grandson of Alexander Leftridge Richardson, born 1805. Alexander L (1805) was married to Martha Patsy Cheek. Her family can be traced back, however the only information for the parents of Alexander L is purely circumstantial at this point. I'm currently trying to follow a line of Leftridge surnames hoping that might be a clue. The Alex you found in the 1860 census is the correct one. That establishes the wife's parentage.
This is the grandson of the Alexander Leftridge whose parentage I am seeking.

Thanks

Worth researching. I'm also looking at a James Richardson in Ashe County on the 1850 census as well. Ashe is beside Alleghany where Alexander Leftridge Richardson died.
