Hi Angelique.  Yep, I've got a few!!  Unfortunately I've had very little time to work on genealogy lately, and that isn't likely to change soon.  So I'm not sure how much I can contribute, but I am certainly interested and I would very much like to stay plugged into the activity.  So please keep me in mind and let me know how I can be of help.  Dennis

I looked at your list, and the only name I can suggest to add (at least as a notable Barton, if not famous) would be Col. William Barton (1748 - 1831), a U.S. Revolutionary War hero.  He has writeups on wikipedia and the New England Historical Society web site as well as other sites:

Also, just to let you know, I took the Y-DNA37 test through FTDNA a few years ago that was sponsored by the Barton Historical Society, but so far haven't found any connections or broken any brick walls as a result of that.

Finally, does the project have some way to communicate other than through posting G2G comments?

I think your question about communication is a good one. I’m thinking of creating a Facebook group if we get a lot of people in the group. Other than that, I don’t know. Guess we’ll have to use G2G or private messages for now.

It’s a shame they couldn’t connect you to a Lineage at the Barton Historical Society. I’m in Lineage XV. When you get more time, I’ll be happy to help you work on your brick walls.

I am related to Edwin G Barton born 1881 in Maple Valley MI then Oliver Barton 1854 Big Prairie MI. I can not get much info or go back any further. Anyone have info?

I have lots of Bartons, starting with my Great Grandmother Miriam Barton (Ireland) https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Barton-6350 and dating back to 1630.

But I'm still working on building my wiki tree links and sources. But I've found cousins and offshoots that left Ireland were Australia bound, including my 6th cousin 3x removed Andrew Barton Paterson who wrote 'Waltzing Matilda'.

I am still stuck on Barton-7495. Elijah can be found, and it seems he is the father of William as family histories say. I asked a question before but have not gotten anywhere looking through the answers. Can the Barton Project help?

My paternal surname line is one of my worst.

Maybe the problem is where he or his father were really born.

Have you tried taking a Y-DNA test through the Barton Historical Society? They are at bartonsite.org. You may fit into one of their lineages which may help you break through your brick wall. If you weren’t able to find a will for a Barton in Elijah’s birth county, I’m not sure where else to look for his parents. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

Not convinced that will work. Another Barton took the test and still did not find a match. The other problem is that you have no control over the data once sent in.
