Do you have any Angels in your family? If so, what was the original surname in your family?

In my family the  name was Engel (Germany to PA) in the mid 1700's, and became Angle by 1800 (TN and MO).  My ggrandfather changed the name to Angel about 1900 (CA).

My Angel[l] surname was orginally de Angele and the next generation was de Angelli. The name reduced yet again during Henry VIII's reign when it became Angell.  Some of us still use Angell today but a few use Angel.  We are from France, Netherlands, and England/Wales.

I have that same History as an Angel surname, with several Angell ancestors working a the Fishmongers for King Henry VII and VIII. We are probably related! lol,

Hello,
 We are Jewish family that  migrated through Eastern Europe to Ukraine to Russia to Israel over the past 150 years. I don't have any information where we gained that surname, as far as you and me know Engel\Angel is a pretty common surname in Europe. 
I've got this surname in Russian where it started with the letter "E", and now it's written in Hebrew starting with "
Aleph", but  spelling it in English was actually a decision made by me
and generally I could have decided to spell it "Angel" as well. None of our family  was in US or England, so the spelling of the surname in english  could possibly start with A or E.  

I you're Jewish we could be cousins, however there are so many Engels around here it might be hard to trace.

DNA testing says I am abt 59% eastern European - Lithuanian and Slovakian on my mother's side, but my Angel/Angle/Engels are from Germany - my family's surname.  I have less than 5% Anasazi Jew.  It does seem to be a very common name.  John Engel equates to the US version of John Smith.  Thank you for your comments.
