Merge of two profiles into higher number, is there a way to correct? Do old profile numbers get recycled?

Carruthers-180 lower numbered profile

In this case the merge did not go into the lower number because there was a difference in the spelling of the name. Caruthers-180 was merged into Carruthers-371. When one version of the name is determined to be incorrect, the lower number rule does not apply.

No, numbers do not get recycled and a merge once completed cannot be undone.
