Hi again David and welcome to the UK and Scotland Projects.

Spookily I have a brick wall with one of my maternal three times great grandfathers David Urquhart, a sailor from around Campbeltown, Argyle, Scotland.     Any relation ??  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Urquhart-73

My brother recently had his Y DNA tested and is grouped as I-BY22819, which appears to be of Scottish origin. We have traced our McIntyre line only back to the mid 1700s in Leesburg, Virginia, and would like to now figure out the earlier Scottish ancestors. At Family Tree DNA, in the McIntyre DNA Project, it appears that we may be related to Duncan MacIntyre, born 1640 in Glenoe, Scotland, First Chief of Glenoe, but we have no information to back up any actual ancestors who connect to that line.
by B. McIntyre G2G Crew (900 points)
Hi  what a briliant discovery.   You might find this history of the Glencoe MacIntyres interesting.   https://www.electricscotland.com/webclans/m/macintyre/part3.htm

We've got a basic profile for Duncan .  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/MacIntyre-42 The dob seems to be a bit out though if he was born in 1640.

Would you like to join the Scottish Clans Project or the Scotland Project  or both ?
Thank you Marla! I think Scottish Clans Project would be good for now.

Side note, I have Maxwells on both sides of my family. From Virginia mostly.
Hi again and welcome to the Scottish Clans Project.   Good luck with your research.    I've not really explored the Maxwells in USA.    Only got as far as Ireland !!

Yes  I have several members in my family.

Princess Katherine Stewart, Robert Stewart, William Keith Stewart, Elizabeth Mure just to name a few in my family tree,

I would really love to join your group so that I can learn more about my Scottish history, and and hopefully help someone else once I’ve learned.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

I've been researching my maternal Scottish Ancestry for around 35 years, but just recently came across information at Geni.com which would appear to link John Stuart/Stewart aka Robert III King of Scots as my 19th Great Grandfather. I initially treated this with some suspicion, but further research seems to reveal three "independent" ancestral lineages, all linked to Scottish Peerage/Royalty of the late 1300s and early 1400s. Robert Cunninghame/Cunynghame 2nd Lord Kilmaurs, 2nd Earl of Glencairn also appear to be a direct ancestor. It would be good to link up with someone who has pre-1500 certification and an interest in this area to add in the missing links. The missing links do seem to be corroborated by information in Burkes Peerage (Landed Gentry of Scotland). I'm pretty certain of my ancestral line back to the mid 1600s, but before that the sources become less reliable, so would be good to try and prove them positively, or negatively.

I'm already a member of UK and Scotland Projects.

Many of my ancestral lines have ties to Scotland.  I'm interested in the facts, dates, and places of these people as well as their clans.  I know I belong to Clan Stewart, but I would like to find the lesser known clans.

Hi my Wiki ID is Jones-66946.  I was wondering if anyone is doing research into the Watret/Wateret/Watriat etc. names of Ayrshire, Kirkcudbright, Wictown, Galloway, Dumfries? Not really a clan, and I have seen several different lists which put them as a sept of different clans.  I would like to work on this.  My grandfather was James Watret and in tracing his try and the name, I've come across several different possibilities, including a variation of Urquhart and a genealogist report in the 1970's  to my great-uncle who traced "Watret" to "de Watret" of Huguenot derivation; neither of which I have been able to confirm.
by Elizabeth Dallmann G2G6 Mach 1 (10.4k points)
Hi Elizabeth,  May not be a clan but I found a Watret tartan in the Scottish Register of tartans https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetails?ref=4502

There are only nine Watret profiles on WT most of which have the same profile manager.    Perhaps a private message to that person may work.

Good luck with your research.

Hello,

I'd like to join the Scotland Project. I've been working on ancient family members and I have strong ties to Stewart and SInclair. However, when I hit a brick wall on my own, I sometimes branch out into other peoples with same names and come across sourcing for them, so I'm sure I could be helpful in assisting in working on other names too!

Thanks,

Raewyn.

I am apparently descended from Elizabeth Cleypoole (1567-1626) of Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England, who is allegedly a daughter of Sir James Claypool (1530-1599) also of Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England. I am particularly interested in proving or disproving this allegation.

I am also apparently descended from the Vaughans of Wales, and have a kilt made of the Vaughan Welsh Family Tartan. I would like to solidify my connections to this lineage.

Hi, I am descended from Carnegy, Guthrie, Suttie, and Lyall of Scotland (mostly centered around Guthrie/Angus). I am also descended of Ffulke Davis, supposedly of Wales c.1620. I look forward to sharing what I have with anyone, and hopefully picking up a few leads on my brick walls as well!

Hi. My name is Natalie Hirons-Spencer and I am completing my personal family heritage genealogy project. I am capable of tracing my lineage back to 500 A.D. in Scotland, Ireland, Wales. I have a very extensive paper copy of my project that is helping me figure out all the connections. I need Pre-Certified for 1500. I would love to understand and learn all that I can about pre 1500 heritage lines, clans, and historical facts.

I'm a direct paternal descendant of Neal McNachten/McNaghten (d. 1777, York Co., Pennsylvania) who may have come from Islay. There is circumstantial evidence - but as yet no confirming sources - that he may have been the brother of Alexander McNaghten, the original trustee of the Argyle Patent in Washington County, New York. Alexander, his brother James, his brother Duncan's children, and other Islay immigrants were brought to New York in 1738 and 1740 by Captain Laughlin Campbell. Most of them eventually settled in Washington County.

I hope to someday confirm/disprove via DNA and sources that Neal and Alexander were siblings. For the moment I'm just putting the data in (already on Ancestry) of what I do have confirmation for.

My wife is also a MacDonald, and probably Irish, and I'd eventually like to follow up on that as well.
