I am getting editing conflict due to age difference

Question

Hi I am working on a group of profiles where the father has at least three wives. When I try to save. I am told there is 42 years differences between siblings. I don't understand why that prevents it from saving. 8618 is the child and https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bell-21811 is the father.

If I am just missing something please let me know. There were some similar names but for different reasons they the child I'm trying to save.

I think Mary Jane is his last marriage and he may have one before Mary Ellen who is so far the first

I'm a bit confused about the markers regarding the father on the profile of Oliver Stephen Bell The Biography states that Oliver's father is someone named Steve. While the profile is marked with the father as Henry Stephen Bell. While it not impossible for Henry to be the father of Oliver. he appears to have been around 60 years of age at the time of the birth of Oliver. If there is an error code number could you share with us which error so we could get a better idea

There may be yet another wife! as Henry Stephen ("Steve") and Nancy Parthenia were only married until 1910, and Oliver was born in 1914...

He might have had four marriages:

*In 1873 with Mary Ellen Lowe Bell (1854–1884)

*24 Mar 1886 • Polk, Arkansas, USA Amanda Cline (1865–)

*20 Jun 1901 • Stewart, Indian Territory, USA
Nancy Parthenia Wells Lane Bell (1875–1910)

*Mary Jane Cossey Gee Bell Broyles 1882–1953

Sourcing is a bit of a problem. First and last marriages are without records. There is a photo of Mary Parthenia, incidentally, and three children attributed to her after her death which might be from his marriage to Mary Jane Cossey. This is from ancestry, and none of the trees for him has complete records.

This is not going to be an easy one to complete.

I was trying to add the children with the different wives.  I have added  some images. It did not accept the child I was trying to add . The page is gone I think I was trying to add one of his children with Mary which is the last wife as far as I know at this time and it said there was 42 years between the sibling I was trying to add a new sibling and an existing sibling. I really didn't understand why it wouldn't accept it. Some of the children are shown with the father after the spouse passed away and he had remarried or they divorced and the children stayed with him and his new spouse. I started with Oliver S, that may be why it didn't  stop him. It did not give me an error code it just said the age difference was an editing conflict

Oliver is not Nancy 's child he is Mary Cossey's child and there are a few more they are the ones I am having a hard time adding  as profiles

8618 is Stephen's wife.  From what you say in the OP, you're trying to make her his child.  Looks like you just typed in the wrong ID.

Thank you all for your help. When  I went to add the child I  clicked on Mary's profile and then on add a child everything I did on that child is gone. I will try doing it again and see what happens .I  tried to save it three different times. All three times it said there are forty two years between the siblings, do you want to save anyway and I would say yes and it wouldn't close

I understand an edit conflict is different that is why I asked for help

Always best to add children from the father to spare having to change the LNAB.

Did you fill in the first box on the form - the WikiTree ID box?  That might cause the error.  Leave that box empty if you're filling in the rest of the form.

The reason you see Steve as the father is that it's a nickname his real name is Henry Stephen "Steve" Bell I have seen Oliver listed somewhere as I was searching for other ancestors in that family tree

An 'editing conflict' is something completely different.  It usually means you've still got the unsaved father open, or you've had the tab open too long.
