I would like to volunteer for more than one project. I am interested in the history of the United States in general.

There is no problem with volunteering for more than one project.  Here is the link to the History Project Page:

The US History Project is very broad, so you may want to narrow down your interest or you can help out on several projects.

I'll add a plug for Virginia since a lot of our history derived from our colonial period that had a big presence in Virginia:

Hi, Wendy. As Lucy said, you can be a member of more than one project here -- many of us are in several.

But project membership isn't required, and for most of us the first priority is adding our own family. You're still a Guest member of Wikitree. Please complete the steps to become a full member so you can participate fully. Then start adding your relatives. As you get familiar with the site, you'll have a better idea of how you want you engage with projects here.

PS, if you are looking for tags to follow in order to become a WikiTree Volunteer, you could start by adding us_history as a tag.
