Born abt 1750 in Culpeper County, Virginia to an unknown mother and father.
John Golden (or Golding/Goulding/Guldin/Goldin/Goulden/Gordon) is the very last direct lineage "Golden" I can find (son-to-father, etc.) He married Permilla Carder (Carder-313), and ever after, Goldens and Carders have been associated. This includes family migrations and further inter-marriages down the generations. DNA has not helped me with this particular brickwall (my YDNA is of the M-253 haplogroup, which is rare amongst Goldens).
Perhaps he was not a Golden originally and just adopted the name?
I think that uncovering information about colonial-era Virginian Carders would be very helpful too, considering their ties. A whole group of families (Goldens and Carders, included) mass-migrated to Harrison County in what is now West Virginia sometime in the 1790s. I even saw reference to a "Cardertown" in the area.
