problem uploading Gedcoms

Question

Hi:  I have tried uploading gedcoms from two different sites (Ancestry.com and MyHeritage.com) but both times I get the dreaded:

"The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might be due to a typo in the file name. Please check whether you really want to upload this file."

Google suggests this may be a problem on the Wiki end?

Alex, were you ever able to upload your gedcom successfully?

make sure the filename is "something.ged" (the dot g e d is the important part). The file should be just plain text, that you can open and examine in any plain text editor. The first few lines should look something like this...

1 CHAR UTF-8
1 SOUR Ancestry.com Family Trees
2 VERS (2010.3)
2 NAME Ancestry.com Family Trees
2 CORP Ancestry.com
1 GEDC
2 VERS 5.5
