G2G: Brickwall for Andrew Parr born 1799

Help please,

Several brains have been focused on this Andrew Parr born about 1795-1799. He claims on 1841 & 1851 Census to be born in Halifax, Yorkshire, however no confirming document found. His occupation was carrier/teamster & he died suddenly in Australia in 1866 while on the road. No official death certificate so no parents names provided. The current assumption of parents is based on name only.

His marriage to Harriot Noble carries on a local tradition of the Parr & Noble families intermarrying as in namesake Parr-1989. Where else can we look for his Halifax area birth record?

Thanks

This record has two witnesses. One of them is a Noble but I can't read the first name. It looks to me like Thillius.

You probably don't want to hear this but the illiterate Harriot Nobles of an 1820 wedding cannot be the schoolmistress Harriot Noble of 1841.

I'm not sure what that means.

My comment was not to you Betty! Unfortunately Wikitree doesn't nest comments. It was a comment to the original poster that I think two different people are being wrongly combined.

I've looked at it again. They do seem to be the same person more likely than not.

I see. I'm glad that's worked out. Thanks for the help Matthew.

Yes that's undoubtedly the origin of the date but it's very distinct from Yorkshire. No Geordie could possibly claim they were born in Halifax.

Thank you for all the contributions.

Matthew's opinions match mine, but in a co-operative tree, I need proof rather than just feel. My feelings are that my Andrew Parr is a member of the other local Halifax area family. They use the same first names. They frequently marry into the Noble family. Geordies need not apply.

          Regards
